About This Site
Welcome. This site exists to share honest, accurate, and respectful information about Vipassana meditation as taught by S.N. Goenkaji, in the tradition of Sayagyi U Ba Khin.
We write from the perspective of people who value this practice deeply and want more people to know about it, feel curious about it, and eventually experience it for themselves at a real 10-day course.
What this site is
An independent, informational resource. Every article is researched carefully, using official sources like dhamma.org and the Vipassana Research Institute (VRI) alongside real, published research. The goal is simple: help people find honest, well-sourced answers to the questions they already have about Vipassana, so they feel more informed and more comfortable when they decide to attend a course.
What this site is not
This site is not an official Vipassana center. It is not run by, affiliated with, or endorsed by the Vipassana Research Institute, dhamma.org, or any official Vipassana organization, unless a specific page clearly says otherwise.
This site does not teach the Vipassana technique, and it never will. The technique is taught in only one way: in person, over a full 10-day residential course, entirely free of charge, by qualified teachers. That is a core part of the tradition, and it is respected fully here. Nothing on this site is a substitute for attending a real course.
Why this exists
Many people search online long before they decide to attend their first course. This site exists so the information they find along the way is accurate, warm, and encouraging, not confusing or off-putting. If it helps even one more person walk into a course they were curious about, it has done its job.
Find a real course
The only place to actually learn Vipassana is at a real course. Visit dhamma.org to find a center and apply.
